A Long Time Ago….
It has been yet another long, unintended break between our last post and this one. As a small team it has been hard to keep on top of all the development and post blog updates (we’re all developers, no social media team here, yet…)
Moving to Unreal Engine 5
An unintended part of readying Mineral for Console release was the need to move from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, admittedly we were not anticipating the need to change Engine versions. However this change allowed us better long-term support for consoles, add some additional features, improve visuals and prepare for expansions.
We intend to launch the UE5 version of Mineral on Steam alongside the launch on other platforms, early January. Expanding Mineral to be on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, Epic Games Store and Windows Store (Xbox for PC).
Roadmap
On the Mineral Website we have made the Roadmap for Mineral public, this ties into our ethos that we want to be transparent with development, delays, issues and plans for the future of Xitol.
Currently (at the time of writing this post) Mineral is sat on Version 1.0.10, with the next planned release being Version 1.1 aka Title Update 1.1 | Home Console Update. Version 1.1 will be the January release of Mineral, featuring all platforms mentioned previously and the UE5 build on Steam.
Moving to UE5, means we have had to increase the minimum recommended specs on PC for GPUs to as follows: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, Radeon RX 580 or Similar, this is to allow for DX12 support and UE5, as well as keeping Mineral looking good and performing as expected.
